This Hilarious LA Noire Video Will Make You Want To Play The VR Case Files
Team Bondi's detective game, LA Noire, was re-released in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Along with this, publisher Rockstar also launched LA Noire: The VR Case Files, which includes a set of missions rebuilt to support the HTC Vive and its finger-tracking controllers. Naturally, this has led to some players getting goofy with the game, and the results are absolutely hilarious.
In the video below, courtesy of the YouTube channel GTA Series Videos, Detective Cole Phelps can be seen getting groovy in front of a mirror, slapping people about, picking noses, caressing his commanding officers, bringing a top hat to a gunfight, and throwing up the "OK" hand gesture at every opportunity. It's wonderful and, honestly, it's sold me on playing the The VR Case Files.
LA Noire: The VR Case Files is currently available on Steam for $30/£25. GameSpot's Alessandro Fillari played both the Switch version and the VR version recently and offered his impressions of it. "Though LA Noire shows its age in some areas--with graphical textures and some design decisions coming off a bit dated--the remaster and special VR edition both breathe some new life into the game," he said.
For the Switch version, he said "the game takes advantage of the touchscreen and Joy-Con functionality for greater accuracy when investigating, which interestingly gives it more of an old-school adventure vibe." You can read his full LA Noire and The VR Case File impressions here.
When it was released back in 2011, GameSpot's LA Noire review awarded the game 9/10, with critic Carolyn Petit saying it is "a unique game with a terrific sense of period atmosphere, absorbing investigation mechanics, and a haunting tale with plenty of moments that would be right at home in a classic film noir."
